A special fire drill at the German Embassy
The German Embassy, located on the 20th floor of the WTC Panama Complex, executed its special Fire Drill on Tuesday the 24th of March. Click here to see the photos. This Fire Drill comprises a collapsed tube that is ejected out of one of the windows until it drops down to the ground level at a staggering height of 70 meters. The staff proceeded to enter the tube from the office and spiral down in controlled descent until the ground floor where they exited the tube onto the parking lot. This event attracted a lot of curiosity in the spectators, especially because it also involved the local Fire Department and News coverage.
This rare occasion to test the tube was shared by the staff with the Fire Department Sargent and a WTC Panama employee. Attendees to this even also included the Municipality and of course the staff of the Company that maintains this equipment. For more information about this evacuation tube, please contact the German Embassy: info@pana.diplo.de

7th Summit of the Americas in Panama
The Panamanian Government will host the seventh Summit of the Americas on April 10 – 11, 2015 and will welcome 35 delegations of Heads of State and Government from across the Americas. The Summit, with a central theme "Prosperity with Equity: The Challenge of Cooperation in the Americas" will be a platform where, respecting differences of opinion, the Heads of State and Government will freely debate on common issues such as: equity, cooperation, poverty, employment, environmental sustainability, energy security, democratic governance, among others, and agree on how these overall issues can be resolved with the democratic adoption and implementation of effective, efficient and measurable policies.
Panama introduces several innovations to this Summit, and therefore will be expected to be "historic". It will be the first time that Cuba and the United States will both attend this event and it will be the first meeting between Mr. Barack Obama and Mr. Raul Castro after their announcement to restore full relations in December 2014. Besides this, there will also be, for the first time, a Vatican secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, attending the Summit of the America's.
Parallel Forums
Additionally, during the 7th Summit of the Americas that will be held at Atlapa Convention Center, several important Parallel Forums will be organized. For example the University President’s Forum, which is an academic forum convening university presidents from across the American continent that will be addressing key governance and development topics, through fresh methodological approaches, including the sharing of good practices to tackle key challenges in the Americas. The other forums will be: Civil Society and Social Actors Forum, Youth of the America’s Forum and Business Forum. Click here for more information on these forums.
Logo of the Summit
After a competition to design the logo for the seventh Summit of the Americas, a Panamanian graphic designer, Yaribeth Hernandez, has won.
In the logo, beside the phrase "VII Cumbre de las Américas, Panamá 2015" (7th Summit of the Americas, Panama 2015), two flying doves meet in Panama. Their colors, red and blue, symbolize Panama as a host country that recognizes diversity and free thinking. Their shapes represent North and South America. Both doves are holding an olive branch that represents the Caribbean Islands, considered key participants of the Summit. The doves symbolize peace and the economic, social and cultural freedom of the hemisphere. They share a common goal, which is the equitable progress of the Americas.
